Winter's Shade

Sitting in the shade during one of the harshest winters in remembrance. 'Snap', I step on the pieces of leftover, burnt wooden matches left behind by another of God's little angels who hid in the winter shadows before me. They say she has gotten her wings and now she flies closer to the sun for the warmth that was never received while bound to this plane. I cry for her and all those who are deemed less than zero by those of us, God's children. Winter is cruel and cold and it's colder in the shade but here in the dark corners we are left alone so as to not remind the masses of all our sins. We hide so others can feel the warmth of the sun during the cruelest of winters
